the conquest of mexico - steak knives

ahoy hoy - finally finished hugh thomas' 'the conquest of mexico' over the weekend. i had been chipping away at it since leaving for florida a week and a half earlier.

i picked this up because i had enjoyed 'the conquest of the inca' so much when i read it last year (different author). 'mexico' was certainly an approachable history and engaging account of cortes' bold adventure, but i would have liked more back-end coverage of the aftermath, colonization, assimilation/accultruation that was certainly part of the wider 'conquest' (present in hemming's 'conquest of the inca').
